How do I get started with konkani.ai?

Simply download the app from the App Store, create a free account, and start your first lesson! The app will guide you through an initial assessment to personalize your learning experience.

What's the difference between Free and Premium?

Free (ad-supported): 3 beginner lessons, 6 culture articles, 4 recipes, 3 script lessons, and 5 AI conversations (lifetime). Non-intrusive ads support free access.

Premium (ad-free): ALL 15 lessons, 29 culture articles (complete heritage collection), 20 recipes (traditional cookbook), 10 script lessons, unlimited AI conversations, offline downloads, speech recognition, and zero ads. Premium is $9.99/month or $79.99/year (save $40!).

Can I use the app offline?

Yes! Premium subscribers can download all lessons, recipes, and cultural content for offline use. Free users can access all content online but need an internet connection.

How do I cancel my subscription?

You can manage your subscription through your iPhone's Settings app. Go to Settings > Your Name > Subscriptions > Konkani.ai, then tap "Cancel Subscription". Your subscription will remain active until the end of the current billing period.

How does the gamification system work?

konkani.ai includes a complete gamification system to make learning addictive and fun! You earn XP for every learning activity, level up from Novice to Legend (12 levels total), unlock 22 achievement badges, complete daily challenges, and maintain learning streaks. All users get the full gamification experience, regardless of tier!

What is audio pronunciation and how does it work?

Premium subscribers get text-to-speech audio on all vocabulary flashcards. Simply tap the speaker icon to hear the correct pronunciation at an optimized 0.75x speed for learning. Free users see a lock icon and can upgrade to Premium to access this feature.

How do daily reminders work?

Konkani.ai sends you smart daily notifications to help maintain your learning streak. You can customize the reminder time (defaults to 7 PM) and receive motivational messages. The app will request notification permissions during onboarding, but you can always adjust this in your device settings.

What are the achievements and how do I unlock them?

There are 22 achievement badges you can unlock by reaching milestones like mastering words, completing lessons, maintaining streaks, and finishing daily challenges. You'll see beautiful celebration animations when you level up or unlock new achievements. Track your progress from the home dashboard!

Is there a free trial for Premium?

Yes! New users can try Premium free for 7 days. You can cancel anytime during the trial without being charged.

Can I share Premium with my family?

Yes! Premium includes Family Sharing, which allows you to share your subscription with up to 5 family members. Just enable Family Sharing in your Apple ID settings, and your family members can enjoy all Premium features at no extra cost.

Why does the free version have ads?

Ads help us keep konkani.ai free for everyone while covering development and server costs. We've carefully placed non-intrusive ads that don't disrupt your learning experience. If you prefer an ad-free experience with unlimited content, Premium removes all ads for just $79.99/year ($6.67/month).

How does the AI conversation feature work?

Our AI tutor, powered by OpenAI technology, engages you in natural conversations in Konkani. It provides instant corrections, explains grammar, and adapts to your skill level. Free users get 5 conversations to try it out, while Premium users enjoy unlimited conversations for maximum practice.

What devices are supported?

konkani.ai is currently available for iOS devices (iPhone and iPad) running iOS 15.0 or later. An Android version is coming soon! 🚀

How is my progress saved?

Your progress is automatically saved to the cloud using secure Supabase storage, so you can continue learning on any device where you're signed in.

Can I learn different dialects of Konkani?

Currently, the app focuses on standard Konkani with Devanagari script. We're working on adding support for additional dialects and scripts in future updates.

Do you offer refunds?

Refund requests are handled through Apple's App Store. If you're not satisfied with your purchase, you can request a refund directly from Apple within 14 days of purchase.

Is my data safe?

Absolutely. We take privacy seriously and use industry-standard encryption. Please review our Privacy Policy for detailed information about data collection and storage.

How often is new content added?

We regularly add new content every month! Coming soon: Konkani Music (Mando, Dulpod, folk songs), Travel Phrases (airport, hotel, restaurant), Festivals Guide (Ganesh Chaturthi, Shigmo, etc.), Children's Stories, Business Konkani, and Literature & Poetry. Premium users get immediate access to all new categories at no extra cost—your subscription price never increases!
